Adequate defence capability prevents Finland from being targeted with pressure or a military use of force. The credibility of Finland’s defence capability is based on general conscription, a strong will to defend the country and international co-operation.
The defence administration co-operates with other authorities to be able to respond to large-scale security threats. The Defence Forces assist other authorities, when necessary, to search for missing people and to recover oil spills.
